Exploring the Mystical Sundarbans with IBA-JU: Episode-1

Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, with the Institute of Business Administration, Jahangirnagar University (IBA-JU)! Organized by the dynamic BBA 30th Batch, with support from other batches, this exclusive tour promises adventure, breathtaking wildlife encounters, and an opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Led by Esteemed Faculty Members:

The tour was proudly led by S M A Moudud Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Batch Manager for the BBA 30th Batch, IBA-JU.

Participants mainly included students from the 30th, 31st, 32nd, and 33rd Batches of IBA-JU, accompanied by a distinguished lineup of faculty members:

  • Professor Dr. Md Motaher Hossain, Shahriar Kabir, Associate Professor, Md. Alamgir Hossen, Associate Professor along with his son, Mr. Palash Saha, Assistant Professor, along with his elder son, Md. Badrul Alam, Assistant Professor, accompanied by his family, Motiur Rahman Khan, Deputy Registrar, accompanied by his family, Md. Delwar Hossain Shikder, Deputy Registrar, Farid Ahmed along with his wife and A. Karim, IBA-JU.

This exciting program was inspired by the visionary Professor Dr. Ireen Akhter, Director of IBA-JU, and was supported by all the faculty members of IBA-JU.

Tour Highlights:

  • Wildlife Safari: Glide through the serene waterways on thrilling boat rides, with the chance to spot the magnificent Royal Bengal Tiger, spotted deer, wild boars, and a diverse array of bird species.

  • Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Center: Witness conservation efforts for deer, crocodiles, and monkeys in this protected zone. Enjoy the scenic views from watchtowers and stroll along wooden walkways for an up-close experience.

  • Dublar Char Island (Fishermen Villages): Visit this picturesque island, famous for its vibrant fishing community.

  • Heron Point (Nilkomol): Perfect for birdwatching enthusiasts, this spot offers mesmerizing views of the serene mangrove forest and its avian residents.

  • Bay of Bengal Views: Witness awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets on the pristine beaches of Jamtola and Katka.

Tour Itinerary:

Dates: January 5-8, 2025

  • Day 1: Departure from Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka. Arrive at Khulna and transfer to the Sundarbans zone via Khulna by launch.
  • Day 2: Explore the Sundarbans with a thrilling wildlife safari and a visit to Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Center.
  • Day 3: Embark on a boat ride to Dublar Char Island and enjoy birdwatching at Heron Point.
  • Day 4: Visit Dublar Char Island (Fishermen Villages) and enjoy stunning views of the Bay of Bengal. Return to Dhaka via Khulna in the evening.

Arrival: Back at Jahangirnagar University on January 8, 2025.


Transportation

  • Round-trip journey by launch, boat, and reserved 4 buses and two launches from Dhaka to the Sundarbans via Khulna-Mongla.

Meals

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were provided throughout the trip.
